# Equipment test tour Rosenheim

It's time for an update again. After a personally challenging year, I felt the urge to go on a short tour before the end of the cycling season.

Since I wasn't entirely satisfied with my bikepacking setup from the last tour, I got some new bags. These also needed to be tested. The main problem on the last tour was still the overly large bags, which meant digging deep inside to find your things.

## Day 1: 72 km 3 h

So, one weekend at the end of October, we set off with all our gear to find a campsite that was still open. Most campsites had already closed, but a few were still open. We found the campsite at Erlensee, not too close and not too far away. It's located almost on the Inn River.

There weren't many highlights on day one. Everything was shrouded in fog, but we started heading east through the Ebersberg Forest. From there, we continued southeast on small country roads where, on a sunny day, you could see the Alps. The most interesting sight was the construction of a crane for a wind turbine in the forest between Kirchseeon and Grafing.

So I arrived at the campsite before dark and pitched my tent. I was the only one with a tent. I took a walk around the lake and then cooked myself some canned chili con carne. Since it was still too early for my sleeping bag, I treated myself to dessert at the campsite's busy restaurant.

## Day 2: 68 km in 3.5 h

The night, with lows of 6°C, went well, and I packed my things as the sun rose. I headed south along the Inn River. The sun struggled to break through the clouds at first, but it managed to reach Rosenheim. There, I had breakfast at the weekly market.

The trail continued upstream along the Mangfall River. Here, I enjoyed the path along the river with its beautiful views of the Alpine panorama. The climb up Aschbacher Berg was then challenging and steep. From there, I had a fantastic view of the route I had just traveled and the Alps.

After a few hills and crossing the Aschbacherberg, the route continued to Aying, where I had another beautiful view. This time, however, it was of Munich. From Aying, the 9-kilometer stretch along a gravel path through the forest led to just before Grasbrunn. After that, it was back to the familiar paths home. All in all, a lovely tour.

## equipment

The aim of the tour was also to test the new equipment. As you may have already noticed in the pictures, there are now two small 15-liter gravel panniers and one 24-liter Rack-Pack at the rear. This distributes everything better.

I also treated myself to a little luxury item for bicycle touring: a chair 😄. A Helinox One. The Zero would have been half the weight, but not as comfortable.

The changes were worthwhile and really make organizing easier. I also packed less, saving weight. Both are definitely worth recommending.
